Serving Up Support: A Fundraiser Event for Norbury Park Lawn Tennis Club

A little while ago, we came across an article highlighting the challenges facing Norbury Park Tennis Club and it really struck a chord. This isn’t just any local tennis club. It’s a piece of living tennis history, one of the oldest clubs in the world and a true pillar of the community. We knew we wanted to help!
So, we decided to do what we do best: bring people together through tennis.
To support the club and raise awareness, we hosted a special fundraising event filled with 37 players bringing our community spirit, sunshine, and plenty of fun on the court. All ticket sales from the event went directly towards Norbury Park’s ongoing fundraiser. The club is currently raising money to purchase the land from the council in order to secure its future and continue serving the community for generations to come.
We started the day with our signature session format: a series of hitting drills to get everyone warmed up, focusing on forehands, backhands, volleys, and smashes, all while trying to hit as many balls as possible!
After a well-earned Vitamin Well drinks break, we dove into the competitive spirit with games like King and Queen of the Court, and of course, a Bisque favourite, Coach vs Coach doubles. Music played in the background, the sun was shining, and the vibes were just great. It was amazing to see such a diverse mix of playing abilities, from beginners to high intermediates to upcoming pros, all coming together and truly enjoying the game.
Joining us for the day was none other than Dylan Gee, a former pro tennis player turned coach and brilliant content creator. Dylan’s been making waves in the tennis world, travelling globally to share his passion and inspire players everywhere. He jumped right into the action and spent the afternoon hitting, chatting, and taking pictures with the community. His energy and love for the sport are truly inspiring.
We were also thrilled to have Lisa Patient, the club’s director, join us on the court. Lisa not only played alongside us but also shared her invaluable insight into the club’s mission and the important role it plays in the local community. It was wonderful to have her be a part of the day along with other Norbury Park LTC members and experience the event firsthand.
After all the tennis action, we were treated to a delicious buffet-style late lunch, generously served by Norbury Park LTC in their incredible clubhouse. It was a lovely moment of connection, full of laughter, stories, and smiles all around.
Seeing people meeting and connecting for the very first time, and witnessing friendships being formed right on the courts is exactly what Bisque is all about! Bringing people together through tennis, creating an environment where new connections are made, and building a supportive community.
Even after the formal session wrapped up, many stayed on to rally and enjoy the courts while the sun was still shining, exactly the kind of spontaneous joy we love to see!
A few special shoutouts:
Huge thanks to Norbury Park LTC, and especially Auel, for their warm hospitality, the amazing food, and giving us access to four beautiful (resurfaced) courts. If you’re in the area and love tennis, this club is absolutely worth a visit! Link here
Shoutout to our friends at CLIQ Community, Vitamin Well UK for supporting and sponsoring the event and keeping spirits high.
A huge thanks to Alex, Joe, Sam, and Matthew for helping us out and keep the energy high throughout the day, and a BIG thank you to the Bisque tennis community for coming down to Norbury and supporting the event, we couldn't have done it without you, your energy throughout the day was incredible!
